Minibus
We have new transport!
Our latest purchase is a twin axle LDV Convoy based minibus. Originally fitted out with
seventeen seats, she has been stripped back to just eight to allow plenty of room
for dive kit. Our resident handyman has been hard at work creating cubby-holes and
cyclinder racks which still leave plenty of space for bags and boxes. This space,
combined with the high roof, also provides a useful changing area for the few people
in the club who have some remaining modesty which they would like to protect!
As well as the usual minibus fixtures and fittings, she has an integrated fire extinguisher system with remote release, and a tachograph so that we can make sure that she is being treated nicely.
Despite only being in the club for a few weeks, she has already been to St. Abbs and Plymouth. The 2.0 engine combined with low gearing managed to haul eight divers including kit and the club RIB, and still returned 24MPG, making it very economicaltransport.
Here she is on the day we collected her.
And there are better things to come! When we manage to get some time when she's not in use somewhere she is due a service. Part of this will include a repair to the factory fitted LPG system. This means we'll be able to run on fuel just half the price of unleaded.
See our Dive Calendar for details of forthcoming expeditions.
